Hello and thank you for coming.
There are many blogs and web sites offering advice on how to succeed on the net. Why should you hang around here? It's a question I ask myself whenever I visit a new site. So let me do my best to answer this for you.
First of all, if you're on the net looking for the "get rich quick" scheme or formula, I don't have that here. I have chosen to market on the net in the same way that I have done in the offline world. Therefore, a brief bit of background:
I've been self-employed virtually my entire adult life. I did sell cars for about a month in 1985, but when the owner of the dealership told us selling cars was the same as picking up girls, I knew I was in the wrong place. That was my last day there.
Since then, I've owned several businesses, each of them very successful. The first was a direct-mail company. I was told it would take me 1-2 years to make this business profitable. I accomplished that in the first month and a year later sold it for a very healthy figure.
For the next ten years, I worked as a freelance fund-raiser and was able to earn a six-figure income.
I then wrote and self-published two books that have sold over 7,000 copies. This experience helped me learn a good deal about writing and publishing. I have a third book nearing completion.
I was successful in these endeavors because I worked hard and applied proven business principles to each of them. I also did a fair amount of studying. I studied up on sales, marketing, PR and how to manage a business.
I look at marketing on the net in the same way. If I study what works and what doesn't and if I provide a quality product, then people will be willing to do business with me.
In the last 3 years, I've probably read 10,000 pages from books, articles and newsletters that discussed ways to market products and services on the net. I also listened to a couple hundred hours of lectures and watched more video tutorials than I can count. I did some serious studying.
I also paid a good deal of attention to people who were succeeding online. I studied how they marketed themselves and their products. I gravitated to people who were interested in teaching you how to do things and who gave a LOT of value.
All in all, I've learned a great deal about running an online business. And I'm still learning. That will never stop. The methods of reaching people on the net continue to change, sometimes before you can blink it seems. My passion is to continue to learn what's out there and bring it back here. All of what I've learned (and will learn) will be presented here in plain English so you can go off and APPLY it to your online business.
To get an idea of what I mean by "plain English," go to the online marketing glossary to see how key words and phrases are explained.
A major part of my job will be "separating the wheat from the chaff." (the chaff is the outer part of the grain that is of little value) There is an ENORMOUS amount of information on the net enticing you. I will do my best to give you the good stuff, the stuff that works.
A core belief for this blog is:
I will succeed TO THE DEGREE I help you succeed.
I want to list out some of the great things you'll learn here, but I fear this is getting too long. Oh, what the heck, here's a short list:
- Starting a blog and making it successful
- Growing a list of people who WANT to hear from you
- How to use newsletters to stay in touch (even if you personally choose not to write them)
- How to find like-minded people on the net.
- How to help like-minded people find YOU.
- How to use social media networks to connect with people interested in what you are offering.
- How to use audio AND video to enhance your message.
- How to enlist others to help you sell your products/services.
- How to use Google and the other search engines to bring you new people interested in what you offer.
- And much more...(I loved saying "And much more..." - it conveys that there's so much more coming. And there is!)
Some people believe the way to make money on the net is to promote to the masses, automate every single process, collect the money and move on.
I personally do not support this approach. I do believe some automation is required (collecting email addresses, sending out newsletters, stuff like this) but I also strongly believe that a personal touch must be present. Very present.
Never forget that people want to deal with people. The Internet and all of its dazzle will never replace that.
With that in mind, there are a number of ways to contact me. At the top of the blog, on the left side under my picture is an email link. You'll also see the various social networking sites where I can be reached.
Okay, we're close to wrapping this up. Just a couple more points to make.
How will I profit from all of this information I provide to you? I want to be very upfront about this.
From time to time, I will recommend products by others that I believe are valuable to you. I will have personally checked these out. If you choose to buy any of these products, the people who created them will pay me a commission.
I also have my own products that I will make available to you. I figure after you've been here for a bit, some of you will step back and say to yourself, "This Stan Dubin guy does provide a lot of really helpful information. I'm sure his eBook will be a great value as well."
I hope I've given you good reason to return here. Here's a way to make that very easy. Enter your email address below and click "subscribe." You'll be notified when new information is available. Your email address will NOT be used in any way except to let you know when new information shows up here.
Thank you very much for reading all the way through this. I look forward to helping you succeed on the net!
